How do I tell my partner I feel taken for granted?
Feeling taken for granted builds slowly, so it is hard to point at. One recent example and one thing you would like is easier to hear than a summary of months.
Tonecraft lets you rehearse it first. Describe what is happening, choose gentle, direct or firm, and walk through six turns. At each turn you see three ways they might answer.
Three ways to open
Gentle
Can I tell you something I've been feeling? Lately I've felt taken for granted, like when Friday's dinner went unremarked. I'd like us to notice each other more.
Direct
I've been feeling taken for granted. Friday's dinner is one example. I'd like us to talk about what each of us needs.
Firm
I feel taken for granted, and I don't want to keep feeling this way. I need us to talk about it this week.
What to expect
Three ways they might answer. Each is plausible, not a prediction of what they will say.
Hears you out
I didn't realise. Tell me more about what's been going on.
Pushes back
I do a lot for you too, you know.
Brushes it off
You're just tired. It'll pass.

Rehearse this with your details
Thanks for listening. I said it because I want us to be good to each other. Let's keep talking about it.
